We had tried homemade ice cream makers in the past and were not impressed. They seemed to not quite work right & added significantly to the  cost & time preparation to have ice cream.  But that all changed when we got our new Ice Cream Maker! Being the ice cream lovers we are…. we decided to use money we were given for our anniversary and give it another try. I did NOT receive this to review and am not being compensated in any way…. it is JUST THAT GOOD!!

The simply delicious recipe we use is 1 quart half & half, 1 cup sugar, and 1 TAB vanilla.

Mix ingredients together (so that the sugar is blended in). Pour into ice cream maker (with chamber frozen).

30 minutes later you have wonderful ice cream! It will be soft serve consistency – so you don’t have to refrigerate it additionally. If you prefer thick ice cream you can refrigerate it…. but we LOVE the creamy soft serve consistency it produces in just 30 minutes. We just put the canister inside a grocery store bag (to prevent freezer burn) and then it is frozen & ready whenever we want ice cream. No additional ice or salt necessary!

To make the ice cream deliciously chocolate – just add 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa before you pour it in the ice cream maker. You can always add fudge, Andes chips, berries, or any other things that sound good. The recipe is so flexible!

It makes 8 (1 cup) servings. It ends up costing about $3.00 total to make (less than $0.40 a serving) and 250 calories of all natural ice cream (if you are counting).  I really can’t recommend this ice cream maker enough! If you don’t own one – here is where you can go grab one – you can thank me later =-)
