In preparation for our Farm Week in Preschool I created this game to help my kid learn which farm animals are nocturnal while reinforcing counting in a non-abstract way, taking turns, and having fun while learning.
The game includes:
- Game board (2 options: easier one shown above & one where the nocturnal are not in a different colored circle)
- Game Pieces (4 primary color tractors)
- Inserts for Photo Stacking Cubes
- Instructions
To play you roll the dice. If you are on a nocturnal animal you need to roll a moon to symbolize nocturnal. If you land on a diurnal (less commonly known term for animal that is away during the day) you need to roll a sun. If you land on the correct time of day, you get to move the number indicated on the die. The next person does the same. The point is to get your tractor from the farmer to the barn.
It’s a simple educational game that engaged my children again and again! Plus I love hearing my kids while on a walk say oh, Daddy that is a nocturnal animal =-)
