Did you know that Fall is only 2 weeks away?! Fall is our families favorite season. I don't know if it is:
- Brisk mornings
- Beauty of colorful falling leaves
- Everyone is getting out while they still can before winter comes
- Warm soups with homemade bread
- Apple Picking
- Pumpkin Patches
- Pumpkin Carving
- Final Harvests from our Garden
- Promise of Thanksgiving & Christmas.
Whatever it is, it is our favorite! Fall means soup time in our family. I know some kids bawk at soup, but we all LOVE our soups! We have a wide variety & they always hit the spot and warm us up!
When we had Minnie someone brought us a meal of Sweet Chili. It was AMAZING and were were instantly hooked! I searched everywhere and tweaked (as we call it here) recipes until we came up with this! Whenever I take it somewhere it seems to be a favorite because it is yummy, hearty, and even picky eaters seem to like the surprising sweet flavor.
Sweet Chili
16 oz tomato sauce
16 oz diced or crushed tomatoes
1/4 cup molasses (or brown sugar)
1 teas dry mustard
16 oz baked beans (or 2 cans if you like a lot of beans)
1 teas salt
1/2 teas black pepper
4 slices bacon
1 large green bell pepper, chopped
1 lb ground beef
In skillet cook bacon
& pepper until pepper is tender & bacon is done. Put in a stock pot or crockpot. Brown beef in skillet; add to stock pot or crock pot. Add remaining ingredients and simmer 30 minutes (or all day on low in crock pot). Serve warm with corn bread & YUM!
